Fourteen particles thrown from a heart on the like, and nothing on the un-like.

The burst fires on the transition into the liked state only, which is the detail that separates a celebration from a tic — un-liking is not an achievement and gets no particles. Each particle is given its own bearing and distance as custom properties and animates to them on one 600ms curve with a random delay of up to 40ms, so the ring arrives slightly ragged rather than as a perfect wheel. The particle layer is removed 700ms after it is created, so nothing accumulates however many times the control is pressed. The button itself pops on a separate keyframe that is restarted by a forced reflow.
